Bentley Continental SuperSports

There is no mistaking the fact that it is a truly majestic wagon, even if you were blind, already as standard the Continental GT is a majestic wagon that takes its place. This was apparently not enough for the customers, the people at Bentley thought, and made a splash and pushed the 6.0-liter W12 engine with twin KKK turbo units from 560 horsepower to a whopping 630. This figure, however, applies if you choose to run on gasoline . With E85 in the tank, there are no official figures, but an effect approaching the 700 mark is not entirely unthinkable.

We have been given the opportunity to drive the car on a sunny day for sure, but with a winter blanket that has been lying thickly over the ground for a long time. This of course brings some limitations to exploration in SuperSport's frontier, despite a very nice balance that has changed from 40/60 on the GT version to now 50/50. They have also allowed the car to be in the Biggest looser for a season, which meant a 110 kilogram weight reduction. Instead of the electrically adjustable comfort armchairs, there are now Sparco vises, clad in Alcantra and with manual adjustment in place. The rear seat was not allowed to go with the SuperSports and instead a carbon fiber transverse brace sits here to stiffen the body further.

And even as a blind person, as I said, you can understand that there are no shy numbers SuperSports delivers, this can be deduced just by hearing the muffled sound from the two oval curved exhausts in the stern.

0-100 is completed in 3.9 seconds despite a weight of 2.3 tonnes and when the speedometer needle shows maximum, the SuperSports rushes forward at a whopping 329 km/h, this seven km/h faster than the Speed version. With these figures, it is nice to know that it is also possible to stop the car, with the help of ceramic carbon fiber brakes with a diameter of 420 mm at the front and 356 mm at the rear. Thanks for that, Bentley!

Driving SuperSports is absolutely not an advanced exercise and could be performed by both your mother and your daughter with a new driver's license. Whether you then let them do it is a completely different matter. With the gearbox in automatic mode, you slide forward easily and comfortably. The adjustable air suspension has four different positions; Comfort, Normal, Sport 1, and Sport 2. The latter is chosen with the greatest satisfaction on the racing track and not on slushy uneven winter roads, where normal is best, Comfort feels a bit soft for active driving.

Bentley has never tried to blend in as a budget brand, for a Continental SuperSports to be parked in your driveway, you have to happily fork out 2.5 million kroner. However, you can tell your neighbors and friends that you are absolutely part of the green car debate and now drive on E85 with a somewhat clear conscience!

+ Vulgarly strong car with the environment in mind.

- Still too many kilos to move around.
