Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid

Even Porsche has entered the circus with so-called green cars, but to be completely honest, there are no green cars at all. The Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid is in any case a step in the right direction with its active hybrid technology. Almost all car companies are doing their best to reduce their average carbon dioxide emissions.

There is no doubt that the Cayenne was a success despite many people's contrary opinion, and in retrospect, one can only state that despite its bold moves, Porsche made a good start. The Panamera was also controversial but seems to be selling well much more than expected. So to make a Porsche that you can start completely silently from a red light would also go against many people's staunch philosophy of how the brand's products should behave.

But quiet as a mouse is exactly what the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid sounds like when you start rolling with the help of its electric motor. At speeds up to 60 km/h, the car must be able to be driven entirely on the electric motor according to Porsche. As soon as the car needs a little extra power, the usual gasoline engine wakes up, which is a V6 with a compressor of 333 horsepower. Together with the electric motor, the car gets 380 horsepower and a torque of 580 newtons, which are available already at 1000 r/min.

This is the third generation Cayenne if you count the facelift of the first model. And a lot has happened with the new one, which feels smaller and much neater in appearance. However, it is only an illusion and made thanks to line choices in the body shapes, the car's size has actually increased slightly. In terms of interior, the car has also received a proper change for the positive and details that on the previous one could be derived from the VolksWagen Touareg are now gone, instead there are a lot of controls and panels from the Panamera model.

23 percent is the emission reduction achieved with the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid, which is quite a lot. It is not only through the Hybrid technology that this has been achieved, but through a proper diet of the model, on the top model Turbo has a weight reduction of as much as 185 kilos. However, a weight increase of 80 kilos is added in the Hybrid version for the battery, which also steals a hundred liters from the luggage compartment.

On the road, the Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid behaves exemplary and consumes miles like small treats. A smart and fuel-saving function is that the engine switches off as soon as you release the gas pedal a little and lets the electric motor work while the battery is being charged. This obviously saves a couple of drops of petrol.

But if you want to drive environmentally, it also costs, a price premium of around 200,000 compared to the Diesel model. The diesel V6 engine also consumes less fuel compared to what the petrol V6 engine in the Hybrid version does. Something you might have to think about and whether it is worth the money to be able to start quietly as a mouse at every red light.
