Rolls Royce Ghost Black Badge

If you don't think a regular Rolls Royce is exclusive enough, you can order one with the Black Badge addition, which is guaranteed to give you even more status.

The story of Rolls Royce started in 1906 when Henry Royce and Carles Rolls started the company which quickly became known for their quality cars and at that time the radiator badge had a red background which changed to black when Rolls died in 1933. The radiator figurine "Spirit of Extacy" was always in silver but as a concession to the boxer Muhammed Ali and other younger customers, it was eventually also available in black. With the name Black Badge, they then added that little something extra in the form of many dark details on the car that would otherwise have been in chrome. On the Ghost, this means an interior that has been elaborated to the extreme with color combinations and material choices that would normally be seen as too daring. Exterior tones go dark with black-cormed details and badges all around. The entire radiator, which normally shines in bright chrome, is now painted black. The very special rims that sit on are made of carbon fiber and together cost more than what a normal car would cost. In classic fashion, the Rolls Royce mark in the center of the rim always stays in the correct position even though the wheel is spinning.

The Rolls Royce Ghost is the model below the Phantom and thus the second largest in the model range. We're talking about a five-door sedan with room for five. but preferably four people. The back seat can therefore seat three, but then you cannot fold down the center armrest, which fulfills a range of functions and comforts. Stepping into a Rolls Royce Ghost is not like stepping into any car. To begin with, it is the back seat that applies, you simply get driven in a Rolls. If you own one, you can probably also afford a driver who does the driving for you, so you can sit comfortably in the back and just enjoy.

When the doors open at the back, they do not do so with the rear edge first, but the other way around. The Rolls Royce Ghost has so-called suicide doors (suicide doors), an old expression. This somewhat strange nickname came from the fact that if such a door accidentally opened while driving, it could injure or trap a pedestrian or cyclist. Was dangerous even for the passengers who at the time were not wearing seat belts. Once in the back seat comes the big surprise, and by that I don't mean after the mind melts the amazing color combination of the interior of the car we tested and photographed which consisted of a stunning cobalt blue upholstery in the best leather. No, what really amazes you is the magical starry sky above you on the ceiling. The dynamism and comfort that is found when you lean back and view the entire interior and the starry sky is difficult to describe, completely out of the ordinary and so incredibly exclusive.

Something that is difficult to discover unless you choose to take off your feet are the wool carpets on the floor. This is something that has followed the brand for a long time. The quality and softness of these surpasses everything and could rather be seen as massage for the feet. Once you discover these amazing carpets, it's hard to get into the car with dirty shoes.

If you still want to experience your Rolls from the driver's seat, this is of course something you will not be disappointed with. The machine that lurks under the long hood in front of you is a V12 engine with twin turbo units of 6.6 liters and which is normally 563 horsepower but now turned up to 603 in the Black Badge version. The power is transmitted to the rear tires via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The combination makes it the fastest Rolls Royce Ghost ever. Expecting a massive V12 sound and having to read superlatives to describe the speed effect is not something that will happen here. It's just not Rolls Royce. You will also not find a lot of driving programs with different functions, here there is a mode and it fills the need in all situations. This can be read and perceived negatively, but of course it is not. When you are on the Autobahn in Germany and the needle on the speedometer suddenly shows 250 kilometers per hour even though it is still completely still and undramatic in the car, you understand that this is how it should be in a Rolls. It should be undramatic and 100 percent comfortable. Getting to the dog tag takes just under five seconds. Despite the magnificent volume of the engine, only a small sober growl is heard at full acceleration. Despite this being a big car, 5457 millimeters to be exact, and weighing close to two and a half tonnes, it handles very nicely even when the road isn't straight. But to think that this is a sports car would be wrong and therefore the car should not be driven that way either. A Rolls Royce is best performed in a neat way in beautiful environments where people in the back will enjoy themselves to the max. In the Black Badge version, you get that extra and absolutely most exclusive thing that makes your life special.
