Range Rover P530

Being rightly picky behind the wheel is just the first name to describe Range Rover owners. The new Range Rover P530 will not disappoint!

I am already aware that I will get to drive one of the world's most comfortable cars. But the fact that it has become even better and more comfortable feels almost unreasonable. How have they managed to do this is really a question that circulates in my head on the way to collect the car.

What sets it apart from the exterior, in addition to the new front headlights and rear lights, is that the rear ones are integrated into the design more than before, and are only clearly visible when they are lit up is one thing. Another thing is the ¨gills¨ in metal at the front that sit just behind the front wheels. They give a sober look and add something to an otherwise rather bare surface.

Once inside the car, thoughts are brought to royal highnesses. Not because the back seat they sat in is what brings them to mind, but that you really sit like a king. You sit high up in the front seats with good visibility all around and the seats are extremely comfortable. You can choose whether the center armrest should be folded down or not. As a detail, there are small light-emitting diodes on the fasteners where you click the belt. But someone complaining and saying that they don't fit well in the new Range Rover should be seen as an outright lie.

If you are a person who enjoys music, you will do so with pleasure in the new Range Rover, because it is equipped with speakers in the headrests for a phenomenal sound image.

What also distinguishes the new Range Rover is its size. It has become larger than its predecessor and some garages will probably be a problem for some owners. But how easy it is to maneuver and has become thanks to new technology will hopefully simplify it in most situations. For example, it also helps by turning the rear wheels when needed. These can swing as much as 7.3 degrees if necessary. The new Range Rover is also surprisingly quiet, a noise reduction system through the speakers helps with this. The technology works so that the speakers play sound that neutralizes the sound that is heard around. In addition to the above-mentioned royal seating comfort, no expense has been spared when it comes to the suspension. The parable of literally floating forward takes on a whole new meaning. Something that has become possible thanks to air suspension.

Driving around between the blocks in Östermalm can be seen as wasted pleasure as this is not what the car was built for. Instead, try to find a beautiful place in the forest with a sunset to enjoy with a cup of coffee. Then do it at the back of the car by opening the two-part tailgate where the lower part thus folds down with an integrated cup holder. If it gets dark and you want to enjoy music or read a book, there are lights and speakers in the upper part of the tailgate that folds up.

A plus in the edge is how easy everything is to see. The main reason for understanding this is, of course, the size, and nothing needs to be squeezed together, the stuff simply fits. You can see it extra clearly up front where there are actually controls for the climate control system and for the volume of the stereo next to the screen, something that makes it easy and safe to change the settings while driving and keeping your eyes on the road.

When it comes to the engine, the new Range Rover is available in a multitude of variants. Eleven different engine combinations. Six diesels and five petrols, seven of which are hubris versions. The one I had to borrow was the "top off the line version" with a whopping 530 horses and 750 Newton meters of torque. Something that is also evident from the addition in the name which is P530. It's the most powerful version! 0 to 100 goes in 4.6 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h.

Building a car for maximum comfort for the occupant or driver has long been a hallmark of Range Rover, but now it is also a leader when it comes to consumption and eco-friendly performance thanks to its hybrid versions when it comes to this size. The new Range Rover clearly raises the bar and the ideas that large luxury SUVs don't have to be environmental criminals at all. The new Range Rover is not.

My journey with this mile-eater went to my birthplace on the west coast, namely Gothenburg. There I took a trip down to the Amerika house and up to Ramundberget to check out Ola Serneke's new skyscraper Karlatornet. With a height of 246 meters and 74 floors, it will be the tallest building in the Nordics. A powerful sight and a perfect match for the new Range Rover. Probably a fairly common car among those who choose to invest in a home in the tower.

The journey home from Gothenburg went smoothly. I have hardly experienced a more comfortable trip home to Stockholm where I myself have been the driver. But even in the back seat as a passenger, the journey would probably have been one of the most comfortable. The new Range Rover is built to consume miles like candy where the driver and passengers are real candy monsters.
